Roadmap
What’s coming to Soullinked
These are plans, not promises. They can change, and none of them has a date. Ideas and requests are welcome in our Discord.
Next up
What the closed alpha is building now.
-
The randomizer
Our own randomizer, starting with Emerald’s Standard preset (it matches the classic one), with checks so HMs and key items can never strand a run. Every run gets freshly randomized games.
Today: Runs are randomized by default. When setting up a run, the host can choose Vanilla instead, or pick what gets randomized under Advanced.
-
Cloud saves
Your saves backed up as you play, so you can pick up a run on another device.
Today: Saves live in the browser you play in, and Settings has a button to download a copy.
-
Level caps
An optional cap that rises with your badges, built into your game, with each player’s cap shown on the board.
Today: Hosts can turn on gym leader caps when setting up a run.
-
Full runs, start to finish
The alpha ends once full runs have been played through, a new player has set it up without help, and two groups have played at the same time.
Beta
The public beta opens sign-ups to everyone.
-
Friends and global leaderboards
Two leaderboards: one for the friends you choose, and one for everyone, with checks so a score can be trusted. They replace today’s board of everyone you’ve shared a run with, so the first board you see is your own crew. Friends lists come with them, along with blocking and seeing who’s online.
Today: The leaderboards rank you against everyone you’ve shared a run with.
-
More games
More Pokémon games, from Gen 1 to Gen 5, with randomizers and level caps for each.
Today: Pokémon Emerald (USA/Europe) and FireRed (USA), both randomized and both with gym leader caps.
-
Seed of the week
A seed of the week for every game: everyone plays the same randomized game for a week. Attempts are counted, and the first players to clear it earn crowns.
-
Open sign-ups
No invite needed, and sign in with a passkey if you like.
Today: Sign-up is invite-only during the alpha. Resetting a forgotten password by email works now.
-
Graveyard
A card for every Pokémon you lose: how long it lived, what killed it, and its last words.
Today: The run board counts deaths, shows first blood, and tracks how long each link lived. In your game, the dead go to a DEAD box in the PC.
-
Replay Theater
Your whole run replayed on the map, cut down to the big moments.
-
Communities
A home for your group: shared rules, seasons, and standings, instead of a spreadsheet in Discord.
-
Public run pages
Share a run’s board with anyone, if you choose to.
Today: Run boards are visible to signed-in players.
-
Discord integration
A thread for each run, and a bot that sets up lobbies from your server.
-
More ways to link
Link Pokémon by the order they were caught, or pick the pairs by hand.
Today: Every run links by route for now.
-
Your data, your call
Download everything Soullinked stores about you, or delete it.
Version 1.0
The full release.
-
The Gauntlet
A hard seed that changes every month, with its own rules and its own leaderboard. You play it at normal speed and get up to three attempts. Your best attempt is the one that counts, ranked by badges and then by how fast you finished, and a run has to follow the Gauntlet’s rules to qualify.
-
Achievements
Badges earned across runs, like deathless gyms, ten-link runs, and monotype clears.
Today: The run board counts each player’s gym badges.
-
Supporter (optional)
A paid tier for extras, never for gameplay. Ideas so far: hosted narrator voices, custom lobby codes and community colors, larger groups, longer archives and exports, original-art cosmetics, tournament tools, and founder packs.
After 1.0
Further out, in no particular order.
-
Trading challenges
Wonderlocke, Egglocke, and gifts between players.
-
Predictions
Call how a run will go before it happens, for points. Points are never purchasable, never cashable, never transferable for value.
-
Seasons and leagues
Organized competition for communities.
-
Ruleset library
Share rule presets, try other people’s, and rate them.
Today: Hosts choose the route rule, and what happens to catches that don’t count.
-
Public API
Documented access to run data, plus webhooks.
Today: The server speaks JSON, but there’s no public reference yet.
